The Great Basin has some of the most interesting cave sites in all of North America. The caves were inhabited over several thousand years with dates ranging from 8,000 BCE. thru 1850 CE. Among the more famous sites are:

• Lovelock in Nevada where the famous duck decoys were found.
• Fort Rock and Roaring Springs Sites in Oregon.
• And Danger and Hogup in Utah. The Hogup site's material remains are housed at the Utah Museum of Natural History.
