Fanum at Bibracte
A small fanum, or temple, at Bibracte. Nestled in the central workshops towards the northwest of town. Sena Ceffyl has made her home here for many years.
I held my breath. Who opened it? The grass and vines had been carefully pushed aside and pulled from the entrance: purposefully cleaned and neatened. My hand pulsed against the sturdy wood of the gate, knots and gnarls from the passage of time pressed into my palm. I leaned my head against the wood, remembering when we had left. The Fanum had been a center of learning, worship, commerce--and brought the Aedui together with their Gods. Those memories collapsed into a single moment, colliding like a thunderclap as the gates had swung closed. Everything I had known, locked behind those walls: barricaded. Heart thudding in my chest, I listened carefully. Nothing. The ground thrummed beneath my feet. I felt Her pull, beckoning me to honor Her in the place where so many Aedui had before me. Maybe it was truly time to be Home. The hinges protested, squealed as I pushed the gate open...
