I thought this might be an appropriate place to explore artistic depictions of war, weapons and warriors in Oriental art, since the most famous of these, the terra cotta army from the Qin dynasty, can be found near Chang'an.

I am sure most of my visitors will have heard of Qin Shi Huang's massive clay army, which was discovered in 1974 by a farmer drilling a well. Dating from around 210 BC, the mausoleum contains thousands of life size figures and their horses and chariots. The ultimate in funerary goods, this array of statuary has intrigued both historians and the general public with its detail and degree of preservation.
