The Black Land Rakers Iwyt.
The ancient Egyptians welcomed the annual flood which spread the rich black mud over the fields in this rather flat delta. The Black Lands flourished as these early farmsteads became extremely fertile thanks to the enriched mud and silt. Obviously they built their homes on the hillocks and raised embankments which were surrounded by irrigation ditches.
