III VIR

Welcome to the Visitor Center of the Moneta

The tresviri monetalis welcome you to the state mint of the Roman Senate and People. A limited tour of the mint’s operations is permitted to those with a pass issued by one of the magistrates.

The state mint was established in the 484th year of Rome’s founding to coin silver. Since then, mint operations have expanded to production of coins in various metals, medallions, and special projects. The mint has been located on the grounds of the temple of Juno Moneta since it was created. The current building located next to the temple contains workshops and the records office of the superintendents. Bullion and coinage are stored in secure vaults in a number of temples and the state aerarium in the temple of Saturn.

For those with a pass token, the tour begins at the Tabularium.
