After the the Great Library of Alexandria had unfortunately been reduced to a smouldering pile of ashes and debris, huge efforts have been undertaken by scholars and scientists alike to salvage and preserve as much as possible, from entire scrolls to tiniest little fragments. With the financial help of merchants and even politicians, the “Library of Alexandria Trust” has been founded and put to action.
The ... ahm ... manageable quantities of restored documents and snippets have been painstakingly sorted by subject and are now kept at different locations as to avoid another devastating loss in case of a fire. Our copyists and conservators are working very hard to make the oh so few reminders of the once so great library again accessible to the general public as soon as possible.
This is the “Curiosities Collection”. Here you will find bits and snippets from all parts of the known world, sorted by subject. One point they all have in common is that they are of no further significance to humanity in general, meaning that serious-minded scholars and scientists have refused to include them into their own collections. Wherever possible, our scribes have added the sources.
Visitors, please note that the Curiosities Collection is only opened for the public during daylight hours since — for obvious reasons — open fire is prohibited in the entire building. Please check back regularly since our collection expands on a more or less regular basis. Thank you.
