Tōdai-ji is a Buddhist temple in Nara, Japan. It is said to be the largest wooden building in the world and houses a giant bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana. The current building was rebuilt in 1709 which amounts to about two-thirds the size of the original. The temple is a listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
