Salvete, citizens!
Welcome to the Offices of the Censors in the Campus Martius. The Villa Publica was erected by the Honorable Gaius Furius Pacilus and Marcus Geganius Macerinus in 435 BC to conduct the census of Roman citizens and prepare the Tabulae Censoriae. It was the first public building constructed in the Campus Martius.
The Villa Publica is a square, two-story building with a portico around the lower floor and a sloping roof on the upper floor. An outer wall surrounds the grounds.
The building also provides lodging for Roman generals awaiting a triumph and the ambassadors of foreign states seeking an audience with the Senate.
If you are here to register for the Census, proceed to the counting office.
Triumphators and foreign ambassadors may register with the Chief Administrative Clerk for a suite of rooms.
