Here you will find a land with no rivers able to drain outside of the region - they simply dry up or drain into small lakes or sinkholes. Here you will find a land of scorching summers and wind-swept winters. Here you will find a land void of many of the plant and animal resources so common in the rest of North America. But here you will find out that several Native America cultures thorughout time have persevered amid all of these obstacles.

The main focus of the Great Basin Hood will be to discuss and gather knowledge on the Ancient and Modern Cultures of the region. We will look at the Paleo-Indian cave sites such as Lovelock and Danger. We will discuss the stylish rock art of the Ancient Fremont culture. And we will present a wealth of information on the Modern cultures of the Great Basin: Ute, Paiute, Bannock, Shoshone, etc. While dealing with the Modern cultures, we will attempt to gather and discuss information from pre-Columbian times but when speaking about more contemporary events and cultureal lifeways we will discuss and present our findings in a professional, academic, and respectful manner.
