The Tribune Masala Commander of the Pompeii Garrison Hero of the East and Champion of the Circus, Masala returns home to win the heart of his first love, the beautiful Mistress of the theater, Messalina Terentius . Her affections, however, belong to the Aedile, Marcus Flaccus Valerius . Despite vying for the affections of the same lady, the two rivals must work together to defend the city and the empire from Masala\'s sworn enemy, the Praetor Lucius Cassius , who is bent on overthrowing the Roman Empire.
