My rp character has split off from the other women of Magh Croimor for her home in Cruachu. This is where the twists and turns of the rp have taken her, not necessarily where I was planning for her to be. It was fun to improvise in writing and not know what was going to happen until I sat down at the computer. Now, though, I wonder if I have painted myself into a corner. It will be a challenge to write a way out of Cruachu and get back to Magh Croimor in time for Beltane. Already we have been thinking of what the next Summer of ____ will be. I hope I can hang with this tough gang!

Soon there will be some role reversals in the Magh Croimor story. It should be interesting. This is another one of Winter Mist's creative writing exercises. She suggested that each of us switch roles for a turn or two, and write from another character's perspective. Great idea! I'm looking forward to seeing how the complicated character I've created will look through someone else's eyes. It will be fun to write as a different person too, for a change.

"Getting to Know Your Character"

Lasair Cormac, alias Labraid

1. What is your character's favorite food? Why?

Honeycakes because she enjoyed them as a child and it brings back happy memories.

2. What is your character's most prized possession? Why?

Her life because she fought to hard to save it, having been nearly drowned by Morann, a brehon-druid sacrificer who loved her but she didn't love him.

3. What is your character most afraid of? Why?

Water! See #2 q&a.

4. What is your character's favorite room/place? Why?

She has no favorite place because she likes to be constantly on the move. She's afraid she might run into Morann again and he would finish her off.


5. What is your character's attitude towards money/riches/wealth? Why?

She likes the good things in life, to be comfortable and well-dressed because her family was upper class wealthy and she developed rich tastes early in life.

6. Does your character have any eccentricies? Did they pick them for a reason?

Lasair dresses like a man and uses a male name (at least for now in the SOR roleplay) because she lives in constant fear that Morann will find out she survived and try to kill her again. Since her near-death, she has become a mercenary warrior and it is more practical to wear a man's clothing.

7. What impression does your character give when speaking to someone else? or if the person only hears their voice.

She mumbles a lot and tries to keep her voice low because she doesn't want anyone to recognize her. Her upper class manner of speech still comes through. She speaks well and speaks softly, so it probably gives an impression of gentleness or shyness.

8. What is your character's favorite article of clothing? Why?

Lasair/Labraid keeps her hair wrapped in a kind of turban-like headdress made of colorful silken cloth. She likes it because it keeps her long hair out of the way, keeps the disguise intact, and, well, it looks pretty darn cool if I say so myself!

9. How does your character react to instant wealth? Poverty? And what they do with their situation.

Having turned into a mercenary warrior after escaping death by drowning, she got accustomed to instant wealth or poverty because it depends on what work she can get. She likes to travel in style, dress well and take good care of herself, so she spends her earnings on that. She likes to gamble too, which can also bring instant wealth or poverty. So these ups and downs are just a fact of life, and when she loses, she's still optimistic that there will always be another chance.
