Though located in the wrong journal, for I don't regard it as a 'trifle', I'm going to treat myself to a minor rant.
How come that especially the historical aspects of AW are in constant decline? (No, this is NOT going to be yet another rant about festivals.)
There are several members here who offer exceptionally well-researched and cleverly presented homes, properties, articles and other works. And what happens? Their achievements get quickly drowned by other things (site-crash, festival), in most cases even unnoticed. Or maybe not really unnoticed, rather uncommented.
All too often I catch myself after browsing through an article, home or whatever that impressed me, that I've left without leaving well-deserved praise. We all are ready to acknowledge pretty designed pages, cleverly coded somethings or an ingenious new enhancement to a festival. But a cleverly written historical article? A wonderfully re-created ancient site?
Personally, I've noticed that everybody is very forthcoming and open when approached with a question or request - thanks! I've benefited loads from this! However, people also tend to almost jump on others' (potential) errors. Why don't we all show the same enthusiasm when it comes to actually praising someone else's work?
How would you feel if your work is passed over, seemingly unnoticed by anybody? |

Porticus Argonautarum!

What a pleasant surprise in Rome! Cousin Marcus has created the Porticus Argonautarum as a gift to celebrate his patronship. I loved staying there and hear Critias relate the story of the Argonauts, one of my favourites. I enjoyed my stay there very much and display this souvenir with pride. Try for yourself, go over there ... and enjoy!
