Renaissance Faire 2007 Aug 16-20
The faire was held at the Monsalvat Castle which held a Masquerade party that brought people, adorned in beautiful masks and costumes, from all over AW. There was a quiz, a joust and a hand to hand combat tournament where knights fought against each other for victorious prizes. You could also throw a pie at the queen and she wouldnt hold it against you-much fun! There were jester writing and courtly love poetry challenges-where excellent writers really showed their stuff! I put a couple of poems on the Courtly Love contest but did not compete for prize. I think what amazed me most was the wonderful music and graphics that just put you in the mood of the Renaissance.
Special thanks to Brunor Averni and Asenath Amenhotep (the game creators) and Desdemona Eurimedon, Scarleth MacRoth
and Attila The Hun, Bree, Cali and all of the others that made this event so much fun!

Lughnasadh 2007 August 3-5, 2007
Writer's really showed their stuff at this event!
The festival was rich in Celtic history and role
plays. There was a Bardic contest of storytellers and poems, a receipe contest, and plenty of games like horse racing, quiz's, a psychic test and crosswords. The Triskelion Tavern was filled with festival frivolity! Many thanks to the festival event coordinators for a
creating such a splendid event!
An ancient ritual of the harvest festival,
Lughnasadh is the ceremony of a handfasting ceremony,
or trial marriage. I'm not sure if I was Offical or not but I did witness the beautiful ceremony. The brides were beautiful and the grooms were charming. The interactions of the couples was incredible!!! You can click on the witness plaque to view the love exchange. A special "Thank you" goes out to Bridgette Cormac for creating the event! Im looking forward to being a bride next year! *G |

The Decennalia July 20-22, 2007
Although I missed most of this wonderful event by being out of town I enjoyed reading everyone's trips down memory lane. There have been many special and lasting friendships made here on AW. I hope I also am as fortunate. I did have an opportunity to join in making a quilt that was presented at Decennalia. A "special thanks" to Kallistos Alexandros and Elenwe Yngling for their seamstress talents in putting this quilt together from all of us.

The Prometheia and The Festival of the New Fire

March 21 - 25, 2007
The Prometheia
Hellas' own celebration of Prometheus and Hellenic civilization. It began with Hellas lighting of the torch in each our Hellas homes where mine shall remain, forever. Then there was a moveable Feast served at some of Hellenes best homesites. Great tour! Interesting homes! There was a quiz which I don't want to chat about..:-o and a very cool puzzle. There was a Nuptiae (wedding) of Eudora and Genuflex which was rich in the education of ancient wedding rituals. Best of all was the finale,'The Stele' which inaugurates the first names of the Friends of Hellas in Embassy Square, foreigners whose contributions have made the Hellenic flame burn ever brighter.
The Festival Of The New Fire 2007 event at the Americas
The Americas has some spectacular events too. It started with the annual fire ceremony at the Kituwah Mound (the heart of the Tsalagi peoples). Followed by delightful Kituwas dance ceremonies.
Everyone was invited to draw a gourd which was later used to bring ashes from your home hearth and place on the mound. Somehow as the ashes were added the mound grew higher. There sure are some talented folks here. There was also a story telling area with many wonderful stories shared, relating to Native American history. Thanks to Kallestos Alexandros, Senex Caecilius, Damon Harmodios, Topiltzin Tupac and all the others for making these events a wonderul celebration. |

Akitu 'beginning of the year' Festival
March 17 - March 20, 2007
Akitu began with a Hellas reception at the Hellas Embassy where Kallistos Alexandros gifted me this fine chariot which I have been riding around in ever since! He says it can go 0 to 60 in half an hour!
There was a Manhunt contest which I was unable to attend, A Marriage Bed Writing Contest (I got
Third place! And a Bablon Squares game which demonstrated how witty and clever the Mesopotamians
are! I was truly laughing out loud, that is until my computer started acting up and I had to leave.
There were two educational Tours about the Akitu in which after taking, I finally got a quiz right
and respectfully placed it in my study. Also there was a very cool crossword puzzle and a quiz
determining what Goddess you are (I'm a Tashmetum, meaning “the granting of requests” ahhh
diplomatic requests) The Goddess pictures were absolutly stunning! And then to let off some stress,
everyone took turns at Slapping the king Zig for good luck to Babylon. The Mesopotamia Kash Bowl
was open through out and it proved to be a fine drinking establishment as advertised.
Many thanks goes to IshmeAdad Cornelius, Persia Xerxes, Marduk Hammurabi, Odin Knudsson, Caileadair
Etana, ApilIshtar Etana, Kallistos Alexandros and all the others who worked so hard to put on this
fun festival.
