One night, I awoke to the dark and softly began to play a song I wrote long ago for my lost home in Ys. I knew it was night, since I can still make out dim shadows, though I can tell little more than if it is dark or light where I am. As I harped, I felt a presence steal into the room. A deepening of the dark, a stilling of sound, that drank up the notes of my harp, and drop in temperature. It was an old friend, whom I had not seen in a very long time. I did not speak to him, he does not like to be addressed directly. Instead, I began to sing the words that went with the song I was playing. The Lament of Ys is a long tune, and it was nearly dawn when I finished. I could hear the birds rise to greet the morning light.

"THANK YOU." said my old friend. "THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITES" and as quietly as he arrived, he left. I sank back into a dreamless slumber.
