Many (or mebbe not all that many, but wot the mump do I care?) of you may know that Titus Pullo dabbles in Roman Army re-enactment. This summer, altho the weather in the North-western regions of the IR hasn´t been all that (yet again, wot´s new, it used to be like that in the old dayz as well..), I been keeping meself busy serving in the XIIIth on and off and being at home on and off, to sometimes keep track with the modern world, as one rather unfortunately should do from time to time. In the field, we really live like Roman soldiers used to, so there´s no tv, no radio, no computers and no cell phones. We gather food materials and cook our own meals. Everything the way it used to happen back then. Back then is now, so to speak.

But wot wuz I gonna tell you?....Oh aye, my new gadget. In camp, I saw a commilito (= brother in military service), who happened to own an extra gladius (= large combat sword) and a fine one, too! I really wanted to have that sword, so I asked him the price. It wuzn´t all that expensive, but I managed to haggle it down a wee bit. I always do that, or else Eirene will have another fit, when I get home with me newest gleaming weapon and I tell her how much I had to pay for it...:p So, usually I manage to get some off the asked price, but any road, I got it! I´m so glad, becuz it´s a cool one! Here it is:

Mebbe it doesn´t mean much to you, but for a real fighting man like me, it means a great deal. So, I´m proud to add this one to my collection!

In the streets of Rome, sparrows are falling off the roofs. It´s that hot, folks. Over where I am IRL, things are getting hotter as well. My summer hols have finally started, all them tests, finals and second trial tests or wotever you call ´em, have been done and graded. All that stuff is completed now. Finally, Pullo will have some spare time on his hands. It´s been a busy year. Now I´m coming home to play with Eirene, the kids, my friends anywhere and everywhere and to do some duty work here, where it´s needed. Oh aye, there will be some Roman Army Camp time as well. Pullo can never stay inside that long. Taverna time is scheduled to happen too, this summer. Wot´s spare time for, if ya ain´t got the time for a cup of good wine, a chat with yer friends and a good brawl or fight every now and then????

So, barflies of Rome, brace yerself, I´d say. Pullo´s on vacation!!!!! LOL!

Today is Pullo´s birthday. That is to say, the man behind this here persona, is getting a year older today. Yes, on D-day, heheh! But this doesn´t mean, of course, that Pullo doesn´t have to go to work today. So, I must be off then. I´ll leave preps for the celebration at home to my lovely wee wife and my kids. And you, good citizens of Rome and wherever you are, have a fine drink on me at the Owl!

Heheheh! Look wot my man Aulus found online. This medium internet is crazy as hell. Wot some people put up there....LOL. I sometimes get a peek meself, but I try avoiding the subject to Eirene. She wouldn´t really approve of raunchy internet roams. She´s far too decent for that. You may think that Pullo don´t need any decency around him, but that ain´t true, folks. I really appreciate at least one decent person by my side, especially Eirene. By the road, she´s in this here piccy, too. It´s the moment where she´s still my slave and I´m her master and I tell her to be good and wait for me to come home from this military campaign I´m bound to be on. Isn´t that a nice and lovely look on me face there? I´m just so in love with Eirene there, I´m just swooning for love. But at that point, I haven´t told her anything yet. She doesn´t really know there that I´m in love with her and that she´s in love with me. These things have funny ways of showing themselves. Any road, here´s the pic. Ahem! Dear citizens of AW (and Rome, of course), I wuz astounded and happily surprised by the nice get well wishes I got, becuz of me being sick. Now that the worst is over and Pullo is rampaging the streets of Rome again, yelling at his praetorians and stuff, I get word that quite a bit of AW peeps are suffering from the flu and other nasty winter diseases, that we all wish to pass our door, but can´t alwayz keep out. So, becuz I been terribly sick and needlessly been away from this here wonderful place, I want y´all to know that I feel much better now and that I wish everyone here still sufferin´ from the cold or the flu to get well soon or get pinched in the butt by that big needle, :p! Get well soon, ppl. Titus will be thinking of you.... ;)

Aye, Titus Pullo wuz ready to hit the streets again. After having been occupied with several tasks and having been so busy with that, he wuz so glad to have some time for the outfit again. And then the inevitable hit him, as it tends to do when he´s been so terribly busy, the nose cold and flu passed by his premises and wuz free to pop in and intoxicate the whole Pullo family.

That´s why I wanted to get out and roam the City, but couldn´t. It wuz either feverishness or being tired and wanting to sleep that kept me from all the goodies. I´m still sickish as we speak, but I hope I´ve got the worst part behind me now. Even Eirene caught the cold, which wuz scary, becuz she´s preggers and all. Fortunately, she ´s all better now and the illness doesn´t seem to have affected her general health and that of our unborn child. This makes me glad and thankful, so as soon as I felt a wee bit better, I dragged meself outside to buy a few young lambs and have ´em sacrificed to Aesculapius. You never know wot it´s good for, eh?

Let me tell you, how taedious being sick is, especially when yer not that sick at all, but ya have to stay inside so as to not inflict this upon yer neighbours. On the Aventine and in the Subura, we all live so crammed upon eachother, so making other people sick becomes an easy job and we don´t want this to happen, you know.... ;) :p
