Have you noticed all of those Pirate Avatars?
|

Some of you might recall that Talk Like A Pirate Day is an annual event here at AW, as well as across the web. It is held on September 19th and basically you post as if you're a pirate. It's a lot of good, clean (unless yer a scurvy land lubber) fun!
This year, Mesopotamia's Scribes are hosting the event at Xena ApilSin's property. It's the surfingest place in Misenum! Billabong Beach!. Be there, or be a landlubber waitin' ter be keelhauled! Arrrr!

AW Beginner's Guide
|

This is a useful tool which has helped many newcomers and old-timers alike. It was created at the beginning of the site, but as features have changed, it hasn't kept up. Therefore, I'm undertaking the task of revamping the Beginner's Guide. It'll be a large undertaking and so I ask anyone who is interested in helping, to please contact me! Your help would be truly welcome! |

Not Really a Meso project...

Although it does deal with Mesopotamian people. I just finished my writeup on the Kaifeng Jews for the Orient (and Feiyan). I am so relieved to finally be done with it!!
Now, I'm off to create an updated "how to" on home decor. Then, maybe another etiquette post? Hmmm.... |

A gentle warning

To my great surprise, I found out today that I am out of image gallery space! When you are a Scribe, you get a little more space than when you're a patron. Looks like during my Scribal duties, I filled it up past the 1000K alotted to me as a Patron. So, I've been going through and deleting things I don't think are being used anymore. I just wanted to let people know, in case I did delete something that was used in my posts, threads, groups, etc. |

THE ROUND TABLE
I am excited to be able to tell you about a new group in Mesopotamia. It’s still in the infant stages but with your help, we hope to have it grow. It’s called The Round Table. As the name signifies, our objective is to have a group where current and former Scribes are on equal footing. Also, we’d love to include those who signed up as Volunteers of Mesopotamia in our group discussions!
If you are like many here and don’t have room to join as your current persona, don’t worry! We’ll be happy to accept any alternate you may wish to use.
We decided to set up this group in order to centralize discussions toward benefiting our world of Mesopotamia and the experience people take from visiting/living within our corner of Ancient Worlds. We hope it will serve as a main place where Volunteers, SE’s and Scribes can touch base about various issues and festivals. Also, we would love to get to know our Volunteers better and talk about where their interests lie.
Most of the threads will be open for all to read and view, but some will be closed. As there are some issues Scribes and SE’s may wish to discuss in private, we will have a board dedicated to these chats. This by no means is to try and make hard feelings within the group. There are just some issues that may be too delicate to discuss in public.
Here are some of the open topics we would like to dicsuss behind the doors of this group:
*Helping with festivals (GF is coming up soon) and other festivals
*Helping with the ‘hoods
*Helping newcomers feel more welcome
*Helping select candidates for the next year
*Chatting and getting some insight as to what you found worked well during your tenure (For Scribes and SE’s)
Please, check out the group! I hope to see you there soon!

Want your chance for a Maximum Patronage?
|
Posted at 23:00 EST
|
Enter now for your chance to win!
Mesopotamia is looking for creative artists interested in making a new background for the new homes in Mesopotamia. We want a fresh look!
Instructions: All graphics must be made by the entrant, no using items from another person or website. Otherwise, the contest is open to your interpretation of what background will work in Mesopotamia. Remember that men and women sign up with the site - so a neutral/unisex color would probably be best. Also, the new homes won't have "tables", so whatever background you make needs to be uniform so the text is easy to read. You may submit as many entries, HERE, as you like!
Declaring a Winner: Voting will be site-wide!! The person who receives the most votes will have their entry used in every new home made in Mesopotamia!!
Prizes: The Third Place Winner will recieve 5,000 strti. Our Second Place Winner will recieve 7,500 strti. The First Place Winner will recieve 10,000 strti. and a Maximum Patronage for one year, going the persona of his or her choice.
Sign up: Sign up is required for the contest (for prizes), then add your entries back on this thread.

Backgrounds
|

That's the easiest way to say it all. Backgrounds are happening in Meso. Oh, they aren't the only thing, as you'll see in the ACTA which will be out soon, but they are a main thing.
Recently, I've been doing some redecorating in my 'hood home The Wonder Cave. After speaking with a fellow Scribe about the Meso Background Contest (please see below), we decided it would be nice to have plain backgrounds for newcomers to choose on their own. They'd need to be small (although, just to warn you, some of mine aren't so small), and easy to read with the text color options we are given. So, I've been working hard and now have a selection of beiges, blues, greens and pinks. Soon to follow: more blues, reds, purples and maybe browns and blacks.
The Wonder Cave isn't just for new people, old-timers and mid-timers alike can peruse and choose their own backgrounds for their homes. Best of all, they're free!
You may have seen the news, or the thread on the DI, about the Meso Background Contest. You may even have seen our official notice:

Our favorite duo is at it again! Read the most current issue of the ACTA to see what Gilgamesh and Humbaba have to say. It's full of name-dropping (this is Humbaba we're talking about after all) and links that you must see! Also, you can read about upcoming events and help in their planning.
On shelves NOW!

We aren't sure when to begin Akitu as Hellas is throwing their Spring bash during the traditional beginning of Akitu. So, we may hold off a week in order not to step on any toes. The god Marduk won't be too upset, will he? *dodges lightning bolts* We put it up to a vote, you the people get to weigh in on the Akitu Planning thread and tell us when you'd like the festival. Marduk, be patient! |
