All throughout history countries have tried to be involved or take credits for other countries achievements

All throughout history countries have tried to be involved or take credits for other countries achievements, for Instance Italy and France are still in rivalry about who started the renaissance, many of such examples are well known and documented. Why this happens? Someone may wonder, the answer is both simple and complicated. The simple answer is that the governments of countries have political agendas to complete through these kinds of cases and they are using the educational system to promote false historical truths to an uneducated populace.

To the matter at hand, U.S decided a day after the re-election of Mr. Bush to recognize the country of F.Y.R.O.M as “Republic of Macedonia”, but are American citizens even remotely informed about such a move against the historic facts, shouldn’t the country that has based it’s Democratic ways of life on the Ancient Greek culture, be more informed about the origin of the name Macedonia? You would ask why is this something that an American citizen would care about? First of all, because of the fact that their entire society is build on the fact that freedom and truth are the biggest values that exist in life, secondly because in their country they have great universities that have been teaching history for at least two centuries now and thus means that at least a portion of the U.S citizens should be well educated in the subject to at least state their argument about such a recognition and third I would like to give an example of this situation: imagine a state of the U.S, lets say Illinois and imagine Quebec which is a state of Canada splitting from Canada and wanting to name its self “Republic of Illinois” wouldn’t that be crazy? Now put that into the present situation a small country FYROM detached its self from the rest of Yugoslavia and named its self “MACEDONIA” although there has been a state named like that in its neighbouring county Greece for 4000 years now, and as if only that wouldn’t be crazy enough the children of FYROM are being taught in their schools that they are descendants of Alexander the Great, although they don’t have a clue as to what even the name ALEXANDER means (all ancient Greek names have a meaning- ALEX=protection-protector ANDER from ANDRAS=MAN). How ridiculous can someone become when instead of teaching the truth to others trough an educational system instead he creates fanatic people that believe in false teachings that only create rivalries (you can see what I mean in internet chat rooms).

To finish my thoughts I would like to say first to all American citizens: you are 280 million people, what you choose to ignore or what you choose to involve your selves into affects the rest of the world whether you like it or not, you have great universities and great minds that exist in your country, use them to benefit for your self and for others, don’t choose to be a super power only in economic or weapons terms, choose to be a cultural super power first a bringer of light and truth, then you will earn the true respect of everyone in the world.
To the citizens of FYROM, your country’s governments have chosen to lead you far from the truth for many decades, I beg you to study the historical facts and give your self the joy of reading about the ancient Greek history, you will learn that a country’s identity depends in much more than a historical deception, it depends mostly in the ability of its citizens to recognize truth from lies and honesty from deception.

I hope my words have helped anyone who cares to see a Greek point of view of the matter.
