Important Jomon section update
|
Posted at 13:15 EST
|
I am pretty happy as I am now about three weeks ahead of planning - and to be honest, I can't remember last time something similar happened to me, LOL But anyway, my notes from both Kobayashi (2004) and Imamura (1996) have now been taken in account into my section on Jomon at my website:
Japan Pre- and Protohistory: the Jomon period
To accomodate some of the arguments introduced by Imamura, I've created a new chapter about the last stages of the Jomon and the transition to the Yayoi period. I hope you'll enjoy reading it
As a result of this week's work, I am now aiming to "complete" this section on Japanese history (by complete I mean integrating elements from all the recent major English sources on the subject) by mid-May, maybe even a bit earlier |

Everday life during Jomon page and a word about what's coming soon

Ok, another fairly long chapter is now online
Everyday life of the Jomon People
Again, still a work in progress as I go through all my notes. At least now I hoe to complete this first wave of updates by the end of next week, and complete my Jomon essay by June (i.e. I'll have by then integrated my notes based on all the major sources in English). Not sure yet if I want to continue with another Japanese period, or alternate with some Chinese history, notably by updating my section on Qin and Han China. At any rate, I will in the meanwhile work on a text on ancient Vietnam which should be up in the next few weeks, with an article written for AW as well - stay tuned for more |

Another page on Jomon is now up
Subsistence strategies during Jomon
Again, feedbacks are very welcome *g* Oh, and I have already started with the next chapter, which I hope will be available sometime next week. In fact, I may be able to do even more if I get one or two days off from work - I should normally know about that tomorrow |

Ok, I'm about half-way through the first batch of updates
Occupation of the land by the Jomon
I'll try to write more during the upcoming few weeks: I wanted to start doing just that this week, but a bad cold made me even more lazy than I already am, LOL Anyhow, updates will be notified here anyway |

Jomon pottery chapter now online
|

This one's pretty long:
Development of Pottery
Again so far it is mostly based on part of my notes only, so the text will probably be further developed in the upcoming weeks. Also the following chapter is under work and I'm hoping to complete it sometime next week |

"Beginnings of Jomon" page up

Again, for people here interested in Japanese history (or should I say prehistory, in that case), here's another page about the Jomon period:
The Beginnings of Jomon
The text stands on its own, but I will complete it with my notes as I go through them. I expect a new update at the site next weekend |

Jomon intro up

I so wanted to start on this project sooner, but only got there now:
Jomon introduction
Unlike what I've posted here so far on the subject, this is not a summary of any book, but I am instead developing my on take on the subject (based on my readings, of course). I'm still debating the merits of posting parts or all of these texts as I progress somewhere at AW as well, but giving the state of historical discussion here, I doubt it would spark interest. However, to anyone who might be reading at my site, feedbacks are of course much welcome ^-^ |

....and created two new pages, including the first with historical content (generalities about pre- and protohistoric Japan) . I'm really glad to see my baby back online and slowly taking shape, and a much better one than the first time around at that :p
Stay tuned for more, hopefully coming sooner rather than later ;-) |

Asian-center/Asian section back online

Took me quite a while to get there, but I finally did it, and I must say I'm quite proud of the layout:
For now only the news and site infos (www) are online, but I'm working on the content (for now Japan prehistory and Early China). Stay tuned ;-)
PS: note that the links below still work: the pages are still online, they are just orphan pages at the moment. I will take them down as I reallocate them within the current site frame |
