SUPER-EGO vs. ID!
Both Super-ego and Id enter the ring. (Can you just imagine the outfits?)
Ego, the executive of the personality has now stepped in.
"I want a good clean fight, no hitting below the belt, and no unearthing of long hidden dark memories from the subconscious or questions about your mother."
DING DING
Id strikes first, impulsively with a blow to right cheek. Super-ego is confused but quickly strikes back with deadly morality.
"Do not... you hit me! Hitting is wrong!" screams Super ego.
Id is now dazed with guilt, he looks shaken. Super-ego sees a window of opportunity and strikes again.
"Furthermore, hitting is really really really wrong! I hope you feel extremely guilty about this!"
Ladies and germs, Id is about to go down, but wait … Id lunges! Id instinctually takes a bite out of Super-ego!
Id looks immediately gratified. Super-ego is down! "That was not... uh ... right ..."
The referee counts: "1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10!"
Looks like Id has won. Let's see what the judges say.
Carl Jung says everyone wins because personality comes from the collective unconscious.
William Sheldon has stormed out. He claims he was here to judge the Endomorph - Mesomorph match, which was canceled. He also claims that Super ego and Id are meaningless.
Manslow claims Super-ego! Is he blind?
Adler also says Super-ego. Evidently inferiority largely influences personality. *AHEM!* What is going on here?
Carl Rodgers says Id - positive regard develops personality.
WAIT! What's this? Contradicting theories?
Adler and Rodgers are now screaming at each other. They are exchanging blows! Id instinctually jumps in and is beating them both senseless.
What a sad day this is for psychology. Freud is turning over in his grave.
