A bit about Tanka and Haiku Posted at 00:00 EST
Tanka is japanese poetry that consists of 5 line = to 31 words:
5 - 7 - 5 - 7 - 7

While Haiku is 3 lines = to 17 words: 5 - 7- 5

Tanka is also known as Waka - here is a site on it:

It also (at the bottom tells about Haiku which came about from Renga (meaning linked versus)
