Is this month over yet? I almost wish it was!! This has probably been some of the worst weeks I've been through. If you think you got probs, then this should make you see the light! LOL Or that mine are so insignificant to yours. If they are, then I truly sympathise! :D
It all started on my Mum's Birthday (12th). I sprained my ankle at work. Could hardly walk on it. I get taken to docs and he gives me the rest of the day off. I go back the next day to the docs and my ankle has swollen up so much I can't get my steel cap shoes on. (Work policy to wear steel caps) So... doc gives me until Thursday off.
I notify my agency and they literally make me go in and fill in forms even though I can hardly walk. When I get there, they basically intimidate me saying that it was law that they have to get these forms in within two days. (It's actually 10 days!) Not happy Jan!!! :(
Have a late appointment on Thursday night. By the time I get home, the office is closed and can't notify anyone that I can go back to work. So I go in anyway. I fully expected my supervisor to send me home but he puts me into the Returns dept as I'm on light duties.
Monday I get messages on phone but don't get them until after I get home and after office has closed. I go in Tuesday and then my supervisor tells me that there is "no work" until I get the all clear from the Docs and I won't get paid if I do go into work as there is "no light duties". (Never mind that I've been doing "light duties" since last Friday) Go figure!!
Wednesday is a day off and so is Thursday until I see the doc again. See doc and clears me for work.
While all the above is going on, my car decides to go into a panic attack and stalls at lights, is running rough and it doesn't take off as well as it should. So, I take it to a local mechanic which we have used before. He says that it needs a tune and service. Then finds that it needs the brakes done too.
$450 later, I drive it home and the problem still remains. I literally blow my top! After dropping off the car for the second time, I walk home. 40 mins later on a hot day (28 deg), I get severe blisters on the underneath of my big toes and can't walk properly!! ARRRGGGHHH!!!!
This time the mechanic finds that a coil pack (whatever the hell that is!) needs replacing. Fortunately this time, he only charges me for the part and not labour. I sincerely hope it's fixed now although the stupid car stalled at the first set of traffic lights after I drove it out. Grrrr.... :(
Also whilst this is going on, my Dad literally screams the house down wondering what on earth possessed me to take it to that particular mechanic. Considering that we've already used that mechanic several times before, I though it was obvious... :( Apparently according to Dad, he's the worst mechanic around. I should point out that this mechanic always has cars in the driveway, people coming and going, etc.
Whilst Dad was screaming at me, I just lost it and walked out of the room. According to Dad I was acting like a 5 year old coz I was "running away" but I didn't care. I've had to deal with quite a bit the last few weeks. I know Dad is trying to "protect" me but I've got to be able to live my own life and make my own mistakes and decisions. After all, I am 36. :S
I will reserve judgement on this mechanic until tomorrow when I start up my car and go to work. If it's ok, then I may take it back to him for further services. If not, then that's it. I'll take it somewhere else.
If all that doesn't make you want to run from the room, I've had to have blood tests, scans on legs, etc... trying to determine my extreme oedema in my legs. I have so much fluid retention in my legs, they feel as though I have tree trunks attached from the knees down.
I reckon they are at least 40cm to 50cm around the calf. All the blood tests came back normal. Tested cholesterol levels, sugar levels for diabetes, kidney disease, thyroid, etc... All normal. I am overweight but this oedema has only happened in the last 6-8 months. I have not gained or lost any weight. I drink plenty of water. At least 1 and 1/2 litres of water a day, sometimes 2 ltrs. I dunno what's causing it. I've taken pills which is supposed to get rid of fluid... Nope. No such luck... :( I hope the Lymphodema clinic will have some idea....
I really don't think I can take much more...
