Going on vacation Posted at 13:00 EST
All those weeks of looking forward to it, and it's finally here! Tommy(gorgor!) and I are headed to a guinness drinking land near you. The Irish Isles that is, first we are going to Dublin, Ireland for a few days to meet up with the ma-inlaw (his ma obviously) and maybe watch his stepdad Jim play a few rounds of golf. We are staying on the edge of the Temple Bar district, I've no idea exactly what the hell that is, but apparantly it's the hip college crowd area of Dublin.

Anyway, after a few days with the fam, we are renting a cheap peice of cr*p itty bitty car that has absolutely no rear bumper I swear, and driving up to stay with Sementawy and Fenton (aka fennybuttons, i've no idea why) in North Ireland.

Now, before you say "Poor Seme and Fenton!" there's more..

Last time we met up with them in Scotland, had a grand old time then flew with them to N. Ire to stay for a mere 7 days. They didn't even once hit tommy with a frying pan or make me pay them for using all her shampoo. This time, we are staying with them (no escape!) for a full two weeks. Can you sense their horror?

I suspect this time Seme wizened up and is planning on forcing me to embroider pillowcases in her slave labour shop to pay for my stay.

Anyway, we leave tomorrow night. I dont even have the day off work *sigh*

the Rosetta stone: Highly overrated Posted at 16:00 EST
Truly does look great on my desktop. Huh you ask? Well, purchased the Rosetta stone mousepad (in the exact shape and color and covered in what is contained on original) at the British Museum while visiting London recently. Just switched old mousepad, which i foolishly threw away thinking this newfangled thing would be so perfect, and it turns out the thing doesn't have enough.. texture? refracted pixel blobs? Whatever to get the mouse to work accurately. My mouse works but you have to regrab everything. Driving me nuts! They had some great stuff in that museum shop though. You can even get it online; British Museum shop. It's not the only thing I bought by a long shot though, and the rest of it is just brilliant.

Ireland sound interesting to you? Posted at 09:00 EST
Well, then I highly recommend Sementaway's outsider cum insider's view of the wackiness that is Northern Ireland - The Back of Beyond: in Belfast, Northern Ireland

I just finished it myself and had to laugh at how odd it sounded, plus I learned quite a few new things. For one, I had no idea that it was actually a different country than the rest of Ireland. She also has to pay international calling charges to call southern Ireland, only 40 miles away! Or is that kilometers? Either way, ridiculous. I so want to go...

*off to plead with mr. two cheeses to whisk me away to Ireland*
