The Nobel Prize: Doris Lessing Posted at 15:00 EST

So she finally got it, the old lady. I just heard it on the tv news. She is 88 years now and she was not a bit impressed. The camera man caught her as she was out shopping veggies. Calmly she said that she has won every prize there is in Europe at least. So what is the Nobel Prize really? More than that now she would have to spend time giving interviews instead of starting up her new book.

She also told that once, 40 years ago, "they" meaning the Nobel committee, had told her they didnīt like her and that she would never get the prize.

But of course she was happy too. She must have been so take off her guard at first. Just imagine you are out wuietly doing your shopping and a guy stick a microphone up your nose and says that you won the Nobel prize. Heh.

I wonder if she will come to Stockholm.

That old time religion Posted at 08:15 EST
Seems there is some interest in ancient Egyptian religion after all. I have had some messages about it. But we need more people if starting another group is realistic. I am waiting, not doing anything just now.

Ancient Egyptian Religion again. Posted at 08:00 EST

Funny things happen. Not so long ago I was silently bewailing the fact that there is no group in Egypt for its religion. Then yesterday my new friend Seshat comes and begins to talk about it.

Iīd be very happy to start one together with Seshat if there is interest! Back at old AS I ran the group Per Netjer for ancient Egyptian religion where we talked about all aspects thereof; its many deities, its philosophy, history, impact on the later world... all such things. It was much frequented and long-lived. Must admit I feel a little doubtful about starting up a new group here these days. Canīt leave the thought alone though!

Karnak, the Nooks & Crannies Posted at 10:00 EST

Finally got all the photos from Karnak up. There are now six documents with photos, all from the First Pylons to the small Eastern temple of Ramesses II in the back. Together with my old photos from the earlier trip, I think that Karnak is well covered for now.

I should get both text and photos up here in my journal but it will have to wait. Too many other projects are collecting dust around my feet!

Karnak, Egypt, March 2007 Posted at 11:00 EST

I finally got my notes from our trip this last March to Egypt, and some of the photos sorted and edited and uploaded. They can be seen here though itīs only the Karnak pages which have any pics yet. The rest will come by and by.

I have no idea when I can have it organized and up - we took far too many pics and many of them came out really good!

The focus is on the less visited parts of Karnak, like the Khonsu Temple, the Open Air Museum and the pylons along the southwest axis. After all these wanderings around in there, still there are places not visited.
