Politics again

Money isn't the root to all evil. It's the root to all corruption.
I am sick unto death of our current administration, Congressmen and Senators. I am so disgusted with the corruption I see in Washington. Here they are having hearings as to why our gas and food prices are so high. These are not two, parallel problems as they seem to try to make us all think. One has a direct effect on the other. Not a sole effect, but a direct and heavy one nonetheless.
As an owner/operator of our own truck, we know exactly what is causing food prices to soar. It's because of the greedy bastards in the oil industry (what was their profit margin again?) and in the government. This is a universal greed that effects both parties. Anyway, because we have to spend over $1,000 in fuel per week, we pass that on to the customer who is shipping the product. This is called a fuel surcharge and it pays for about half of our fuel cost. If we didn't do this, there would be far more than the 108,000 trucks that went under last month alone.
The customer then passes this added shipping cost onto us the consumer. Don't think that just because we haul it, we the truck driver get a break at the store. We don't. We get hit doubly hard.
This is why I am NOT going to vote for an incumbent this year. We need a clean slate and representatives who haven't been bought with oil money.
Also, this year, I am not going to vote for either of the Presidential nominees. This race between Obama and Hillary is becoming really annoying to me. I want to have a true conservative candidate (not McCain) or a true liberal candidate (not Obama or Hillary) become president. We've had 16 years of false liberalism and false conservativism that has brought us to the current situation we are in now.
Because of this, I'm either going to write in John Edwards or Mitt Romney. I know this is going to shock most of you, but I'm leaning more towards John Edwards. He won my heart when he admitted in the debates (after Hillary and Obama were having a cat fight) that all politicians are a little crooked. Amen to that!

RE: Saturnalia

Thank you to Decius for bringing me out of the boughs and digging to get to the bottom of the Saturnalia dates. It seems that "officially" Saturnalia will be held from Dec. 17th - Dec. 19th. I am so happy with these dates that X and I have decided we'll do our Victorian Xmas in Rome instead of for Yule in Germania. Who knows...maybe it will be such a hit that we'll carry it over to Yule? ;) |

Saturnalia

I hope to God there has been a mistake in the dates chosen for Rome's Saturnalia. I cannot tell you how pretentious and snide it appears to have Rome's holiday override all the other festivities planned in other worlds. Its history doesn't support a 19 day event. Its history supports one to six days (17-23) of festivities. Why in the world would Rome decide to hold a festival for over half a month? The only reason I can see in this, is that there was a mixup in the dates. I hope this is so. If it is not, I'll have to say "never mind" to X, whom I was going to try and do an event with. |

And how people are getting upset with properties others have paid to create and haven't gotten around to using. Well, I noticed that one of such properties (OK, a few) were mine. So, I am on a campaign to create and maintain my Houses of Negotiable Affections. I can't do this without you, my brave and lovely people of Ancient Worlds. So, please feel free to stop by, apply for a job or sample the wares. Just remember that little thing called the "Code of Conduct". |

The Great Global Warming Myth
|
Posted at 10:00 EST
|
For many years, when it first started gaining steam in my State, I knew this was a myth. Not that global warming isn't happening, but that it is caused mostly by man. That is the myth.
I remember when I was in High School (I was about 16 years old) and the "threat" of global warming was starting to gain some ground. They were telling us that global warming was causing droughts and soon the earth would end if we didn't change our evil ways.
Well, me being my own person, full of my own thoughts (thanks for raising me to think for myself, Dad!), I was like, "Wait a minute. You just told us when we were in Middle School about the settlers who came to Montana found that it was a lush and green place. They settled and one or two years later (I can't really remember as it's been over 15 years ago now!) there was a drought and many died. So, how did THAT drought occur? Was it the automobiles the settlers drove here, the refrigerators they stored their persishables in? Nope, it was the normal course of the earth. It goes through heating and cooling trends all on its own."
Well, my love for science and for logical thought got the better of me. I would always tell these global warming alarmists they were full of "it" when I happened to talk to them. But now, I have found some scientific sources to back up my long-held beliefs that this is a natural cycle of the earth. I have recently posted a video at Ancient Mysteries, titled, The Great Global Warming Swindle (1 Hour and 13 Mintues in length), but I also recently purchased a book. It's titled The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (and Environmentalism). Although it's full of vitriolic language towards the Greens - "the new 'Reds'", I find the science in it interesting.
If you are like me, then please do look up these sources. You'll find some basis for your beliefs and maybe together we can stamp out this current global myth. |

Surgery went well...

After 6 hours of surgery, my brother-in-law came out on top. He is doing well, but is in ICU for the time being because they're afraid of excessive bleeding. He did have to have a blood transfusion after surgery because he lost a lot of blood. But, things are looking good for him and he should be out of the hospital *crosses fingers* within 5 days. |
