The master asked that you wait here. Please make yourself at home. You may rest on one of the couches or have a look at the artwork.
The master has a fine collection of bronzes and some interesting vases. You’ll notice many pieces have some connection to the master’s interests. Can you guess what they are?
I will have one of the kitchen servants bring you a plate of fruit, cheese and snacks. Would you like something to drink? The master has some good Surrentine wine or a lovely Chian. We also have a tasty sorbus cider.
Ah, welcome to my home. I hope you have had some refreshments. The cider and Sardian nuts are from my estate near Tusculum.
Did you notice my latest acquisition? I picked it up in Puteoli from a master artisan in Campania. It’s wonderful, isn’t it?
Let’s take a tour of the house. I want you to see everything. This room is where I host private guests when they come to visit. I meet with clientes or visitors on business around the impluvium or in the ala at the back of the atrium. Now, come into the bibliotheca with me. I want to show you my latest work.
