My particular historical interests in Ancient Rome are the Julio-Claudians, particularly Augustus and the women at the time. My favourite historical Augustian woman is Julia, daughter of Augustus, mainly because of the interesting life she lead and the way the bad press she receives from the sources seem to get less and less believe able.
Though I mainly enjoy learning and reading about the Julio-Claudians, I've started to branch out to the times of the civil wars before the emperors fought by Marcus Antonius and Cleopatra against Marcus Agrippa and Octavius Caesar, who later became Augustus. I have also taken a quick look at the Flavian Dynasty, though I admit they aren't as interesting as the first Roman emperors.
