In my Study, I am able to relax, sip some spiced honey mead, and think about how my studies into the German, Celtic, and Eastern-European cultures impact my own religious & spiritual life.
I am a member of Ár nDraíocht Féin: A Druid Fellowship (ADF), and I attempt to worship and honor the Gods of the Indo-Europeans in a somewhat historical manner. However, I love to leave room for personal interpretation (and my own Grove will support me in this endeavor!). I am always available to answer any questions; just post a note, or leave me a message in my box!
The very first Norse god that I ever approached was Odin.
I had received a wonderful gift of a handmade rune set at Yule 2003 and decided to introduce myself to Him in a small, private midnight ritual. Since then, He has helped me learn about Norse mythology and magic (One aspect of his symbolism in Norse mythology is that of hidden knowledge) and communicates His wisdom through His language of runes. I have only studied the meanings of the runes for a little over a year, and I am beginning to understand more about them from translations of the many Rune Poems. I imagine Odin to look very much like my idol of him in the Library. *smiles*
The first Norse ritual/blot I ever attended was the Fall Equinox of 2004. Our Grove worshipped Freya, and learned about the symbolism of her Brisingamen (her sacred Necklace). Our representation of her was a stuffed cat in a plastic chariot, pulled by two 1 1/2 inch kitties. *laughs* Although a very comical idol, it was well received by Her.
During the ritual, I glanced over to her idol and imagined Her prescence as a women dressed all in white robes with silver trim, long blonde hair, and graceful body movements. She is very beautiful, and seems quietly powerful.
