Sun Wukong's Day of Celebration
The Sun WuKong festival is always celebrated on the sixteenth day of the eighth lunar month on the Chinese calendar, the day after the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. Wukong's festivals always feature recreations of his ordeals such as walking on a bed of coals and climbing a ladder of knives. In Hong Kong the festival is celebrated at the Buddhist Temple in Sau Mau Ping, which has a shrine to Sun Wukong. In 2010 it will fall on Sept 23. Be sure to come worship and celebrate with me.
