The Temple Dancers are an important part of the Temple worship, and also displayed their special talents in the sacred processions from the Temples to the sea, and through the towns and great cities. The Sacred Dance was not confined to the performance by women, men also performed, usually with the emphasis on the male mystery and the warrior. Aside from the obvious pleasure of dancing and watching the dance, each exacting movement was in ancient times, a particular mesage of worship to the Diety. Many forms of Sacred Dance prevailed throughout the world. Some of the other forms were and are: the circle dance, the spiral dance, the serpentine and others. Particularly in the famous dance of the veils, originally in the ancient Temples of our Goddess, this Sacred Dance represented and acted out the many layers of the mystery, aspects and attributes of the great Goddess. During the dance each veil is rhythmically moved continually to reveal and conceal, finally being removed to reveal the great secrets of the Goddess to Her worshippers. And so the joyous movement of the human body in prayer to the Goddess was practiced in the earliest times and in the great Temples of the gods.
