A Coin Press Operator is an author who may start discussions and write Articles, and is a full-fledged participating member of the group.

A modern coin is held in place by a metal collar, and two dies come in to strike the coin fast or slow, depending on the hardness of the metal or the desired effect. (A mirror-like proof coin usually requires two strikes.) The operator checks for quality periodically and if any one coin is substandard, the batch is checked.

Occasionally a few error coins pass through and into circulation. These coins aren't junk, but extremely valuable and should be appraised by a professional numismatist. You may be sitting on a one-coin goldmine.
