Lapu-Lapu (1491-1542) was the datu (tribal chief) of Mactan, Sri Visaya, an island in the Philippines. Regarded as the first Filipino hero, he led the men of Mactan Island in armed resistance against Spanish colonization on the 27th of April, 1521.

Using only kampilan swords and kalasag shields, they routed the Spanish, killing (among others) Ferdinand Magellan in what has become known as the Battle of Mactan.
