Hand to Hand Combat

CONTEST DESCRIPTION AND RULES:
Welcome To The Third Annual Hand To Hand Combat of Germania.
You will need to select a coat of arms that will represent you in any of the tournaments you may choose
to sign up for. If you already have a shield listed
here: Shield List,
then just leave a scroll at
Desdemona Eurimedon's home.
If you do not yet have a shield, you have three options:
Go to the Shield List and select one of the numbered shields.
Those with a name cannot be selected.
Find a shield design from somewhere other than the Shields List and leave it on
Desdemona's scroll to be resized
As Queens are extremely busy when in preparation mode for Renaissance Faires,
it is recommended that any resizing
requests be left on the scroll at least 48 hours prior to the Tournament
or it may not be done in time.
Last but not least, you can create one!
The only stipulations are that it cannot be identical to any of the ones
on the Shields List
and it must have a pixel count of 40w x 44h and again, once ready leave it at Desdemona's.
You will also need to generate a character for the tournament.
What this means is that you select attributes, arms,
and armour.
You will find the
Character Generator here.
Just follow the instructions on the left hand side of the generator,
except you will not be forwarding the information to Foulques Helvetti.

Keep in mind that if you already have a character from a previous year
you will not need to create a new one. The old one can be used without problems.
In this case, just let Des know that you want to fight a knight and of course who that
knight is and if he or she already has her information ready we can set up a fight as soon
as posibble.
So, for all newbies, once signed up forward your shield selection and
generated character and we will post your shield on the
Hand to Hand Tree after each round has been set.
You can then post your shield in our threads or at your home,
so we can all admire it and feel very envious.

The rules of this tournament are simple.
First thing to do is: Challenge, goad, coerce or beg another knight to a combat.
Once you have found someone to maim fight, let the Marshall
(we call her
Desdemona Eurimedonfor short)
know and she'll gladly send you to your death,
sorry, of course we mean help you get started.
Feel free to proclaim your prowess, antagonize your nemesis,
jeer at your opponent in a post.
Again, Desdemona may be able to help you in this department,
if you have run out of posts.

Please read through the rules carefully.
You should also have a look at the posts in
this thread.
They will give you an idea of how the H2H works.
Keep in mind however that the length of each combat may change depending on how lucky one gets.
For this example, Desdemona was lucky to secure a win in only two (2) rounds.
This is not likely to happen each time.
You will need to use this page
(Player Action Sheet) to choose the action that you want to use in the combat.
Once you've selected the action, you will have to send it to Desdemona
She will then play the action for you and will post the results on the appropriate thread.
This is what you do, in detail:
Open the
Action Sheet
and keep it open for the duration of the combat.
Do NOT close and do NOT refresh!
Click on the buttons to choose your actions, for a total of five (5) points.
You will know how many points you have used as they are automatically filled
into the little white boxes.
If you exceed the 5 points, a window will pop up and let you know so that
you can pick a different action.
Then write down a taunt in the alloted space, and click on Save Actions,
OR simply click on Save Actions without entering a taunt. This is up to you!
Now, copy the actions and send them in a gram to Desdemona.
She will enter them into the program, along with your challenger's and Voila!
She will then post the results for you.
You, your challenger and Desdemona will continue in this way until a winner is declared.
The first person to reach SIX POINTS is then declared the winner.
As each battle between knights is won the winners will be posted in the Hand to Hand Tree.
There you can also find who the winners are matched in the following rounds.
This will continue until a final winner is determined.

in case you would like to have a look at who you may be facing and just how easily they can massacre you.
Now, since only men used to be able to engage in combat,
or compete in any tournaments for that matter,
we have changed the rules a bit.
Anyone may choose to join at any time, even the ladies.
They will, however, need to follow the same rules as the men and will, of course,
not be given any special favours.
Sorry about that ladies!
We will all just have to pretend to be men for one day. That should be fun, no?
A bunch of butch women kicking bum around AW...the men here will love that *g*
The same rule goes for any member of admin that may choose to join.
Since this game is computer operated it cannot be influenced by the Marshal,
therefore anyone that chooses to enter is welcome. Including the Germanic Scribes and
Any personas that the Marshal chooses to compete with if we lack any opponents.
One tricky thing about this is however that since the Marshal,
as well as the Germanic Scribes operating the games they will not be eligible to win.
So any places that they may secure doing the H2H Combat will then be moved down one spot and
the following person will qualify for that place instead.
Anyway, we suggest that you sign up now and read through the rules.
Desdemona, will be acting as marshal for the duration of the tournament
so do not hesitate to ask her for help.
If you run out of posts and would like to use another persona
please let her know and you may post as that persona.
It is important that you let us know before you start posting with them,
or we won't be able to keep track of the winners.
