Niall Noigiallach and his descendants. Niall "Mor" ascended to Ard Ri and obtained tribute from the four Irish provinces. He subsequently raided into Britain and made himself overlord there of the Picts, Dalriads, Britons, and Saxons. He turned his attention to the Romans and his armies beat the Romans across the channel into Gaul. He added Amorica and the Morini tribe to his list of tributaries. This gave him the epithet, "Noigiallach," or "the Nine Hostages." While pursuing the Roman retreat to Rome he was poisoned by a Leinsterman for revenge for his "Boru" or "Cow" tribute levied on Leinster years back. Niall Noigiallach is the second most fecund male in human history, the first being Ghengis Khan. He is the eponymous ancestor to the Ui Niall.
