Map shows the close vincinity of the theater. This allowed the actors to enter the theater with out being seen by the audience.
There are four main rooms with magnificent mosaics that overlook the raised wing of the peristyle defined by columns. Surrounding the exterior of the four rooms are numerous small rooms which were likely sleeping quarters for the actors. I retouched missing tiles in this photo
In one of the four main rooms lays the mosaic depicting the triumph of Dionysus riding a leopard. This mosaic is so incredibly detailed that it is said that there are over 100 stones in the eye of the panther alone.Through the entrance on the left there is a room featuring mosaic dolphins facing one another and an emblem of a large amphora a palm and bird recalling the palm under which Leto gave birth to Apollo and Artemis. Next is a small room decorated with a mosaic of a dancing Silenus, then a larger room with a mosaic of cubes and masks of the new comedy linked by shoots of ivy.
