Note: This roleplay story is historical fantasy. As such, historical details will be feasible rather than rigidly accurate, and supernatural and fantasy elements almost inevitable (for comparison, think of movies of the wuxia genre like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and House of the Flying Daggers etc, or Barry Hughart's novels of "an Ancient China that never was").

The nominal time period is around 740 - 755 CE, while the Silk Road was open and thriving under the Tang Dynasty, and Chang'an was the most cosmopolitan city in the world.
