This is our board for the historical discussion of Egyptian Queen's, hopefully it will be a wealth of information about well known Queen's such as Hatshepsut and Nefertiti, but, more importantly the obscure queen's, the little known ones that history has seemed to have forgotten. I hope that eventually this will be a wealth of information for those looking for information on this topic.
For those who are researching Queens and need a board created for them contact me, or Mirjam

This, the Early Dynastic Period and the Old Kingdom is the formative stage of Egyptian history. Here we find the first kings and thus also the first queens. Not much is known about these women, at best some records are given about them on seals or stelae. Several of them had however a small pyramid erected for them beside the kingīs. Letīs anyhow try to at least give something about them here, or name them - so that they can Live forever ;)

The Graeco-Roman Period (- posts)
During this period Egypt had already seen Persian and Greek kings on the Horus throne. Next came Alexander the Great and conquered the country. These rulers, however, were careful to at least pay lipservice to the traditional religion and built several temples. But the period and the long history of Ancient Egypt dies with Cleopatra VII Philopator if not already long before. After this, Egypt became a Roman province.

Dynasties 21-31 (- posts)
This period begins with the Third Intermediate followed by the Late period. We see the weakening of Pharaonic power, and the dynasties of Sais, Bubastis and Tanis being overtaken by the Kushite Kings. But itīs among the Tanis rulers that the office of 'Godīs Wife of Amun' is at its height and the title was even preferred before the title of 'Great Royal Spouse'. So here we will find things I think!

Dynasties 7-17 (- posts)
This period covers both the
First Intermediate, the Middle Kingdom and the Second Intermediate. It is often considered as an obscure period in the history of Ancient Egypt and it was a time of disorder and changes which brought schock to a people used to stability and security. Chaos reigned for 140 years until a succession of princes from Waset (Gr: Thebes) managed to oust the Hyksos. Names abound on royal women but knowledge about their lifes is harder to come across.
