A place for displaying works of art along with poems inspired by and about them. A place also for quiet meditation on and inspiration from, the justaposition of a poem and a visual artwork. For in some cases, the reverse happens, the poem inspiring the art. In the former case, the technical term for describing a visual work of art in a poem is "ekphrasis" - a word so mangled in its ancient, & modern usage, and so ugly in sound, I hope never to mention or see it here again! (But useful in googling for examples!) Let's also include the pairing of a poem & an artwork that share a common subject, theme or event, whether real, historical, or mythical. Stretching the envelope, the category, you say? Well, what are the arts for, if not for shock therapy on the hardening of our categories?
We cordially invite all our resident artists to donate an artwork of their own creation with a theme of Winter. Not just our artists, if you have a much loved artwork from history of a winter theme, post it here!
