These people were found in northwest California (the Yurok and Wiyot), central and eastern Canada, New England, Central Atlantic, Southern Great Lakes, Western Great Plains.

Branch: Gulf, including the following families: Natchez, Atakapa, Chitimacha, Tunica, Tonkawa.

These are located in Louisiana and Texas.

Branch: Muskogean. This includes the following languages/tribes: Choctaw, Chickasaw, Alabama, Koasati, Mikasuki, Hitchiti, Muskogee or Creek, Seminole. Located in Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma and Florida.
