CATARACTA CURIA

THE UPPER BALCONY

mmore05-2
As you begin your descent towards the Lower Balcony, you hear the thundering of the Velinus hurtling itself into the Nar in the distance. Closer to hand, you hear a lighter sound, almost like small bells. It is the sound of a miniature waterfall, to your left. The ager Reatinus has many underground springs such as this one that burst unexpectedly out of the ground.
The winding path brings you to a precipice from which you have your first glimpse of the Cataracta. Further on you will reach an observation platform furnished with tables and benches, enclosed with an iron lattice-work grill. This is the first section of the waterfall. Below is a wide ridge or shelf which will form a departure for a second and wider waterfall.

onward, spring will fall;
still heard behind fast water
one butterfly calls

Waterfall, by lordfuznut.
