The Once-In-A-Virtual-Lifetime Decennalia Trivia Championship
While we've some laid-back fun for you on Decennalia Weekend, there is one event that many cives will want to compete in - The Decennalia Live Trivia Championship. Of course we have to have a trivia contest for those gen-u-wine old-timers who remember how it all began, so all the questions will be based on real-time Ancientsites and AncientWorlds history. If you were here and remember what went on, sign up for the Championship and win fame, glory, and gold!
Whereas some trivia contests are google-able, this is a contest for the best and the brightest. So, sign up for the contest and reserve Friday, July 20, 2007 at 7:30 AW to test your ancient memories! The contest itself will be held on the Main Decennalia thread.
Symposion With Jot Ariston
Newcomers to AW may not realize that AW exists because an architect sat in the forum in 1992 and imagined creating a graphic tour of ancient Rome using the then-new world of computer animation. Our own Jot Ariston - who, with partner Decimus Aemilius founded Cybersites in 1995 and AncientSites in 1997 - will be our Symposion guest from July 15-21, discussing not only how our unique virtual world was created, but the history of net communities in the past decade. Jot will be holding court at The Symposion to answer your questions, so if you've ever wondered how this unique place came to be, now's the time to get your answers!
Celebrations Within the Worlds
While Caileadair Etana has created a wonderful time-line of events in AncientSites/Worlds as a whole, which will be unveiled on July 20, many of our worlds are working on their own timelines as a permanent reminder of significant events in their own history. Our last two 'worlds' were, of course, Germania (October 27, 2002) and The Orient (April, 2005), but it's hard to remember that the first three worlds at AncientSites developed from games like SPQR set in Rome, one for Athens, and one set in colonial Nieuw Amsterdam! Several worlds are also celebrating their own mini-Dec with memories and shared experiences. Look below for links to some of the upcoming events. Of course, all events will eventually be listed in the header of the main site-wide Decennalia thread.
Special thanks to Cailedair Etana for handling both the AS/AW timeline AND our list of events! If you have something you need publicized, get with Caily in the next few days.
The Orient is working on a bunch of special plans - check out the new thread, Celebrating Decennalia in the Orient - for all the news and for links as they develop.
In the Americas, Topi Tupac and Aynara MorningStar have created a really old AS notion - a reborn Carpenter's Cup! (If you don't remember that, you weren't at AS then). The Carpenter's Cup absorbed the chase energies of people from Babylon to Machu Picchu in the late '90's. So the revamped version is the Put the Cup Back! experience. Check out Put the Cup Back! and laugh your way back into history. Also you can sign up for Put the Cup Back event taking place on July 21.

Rome is still firming up its plans, but one thing we KNOW will happen is a HBO ROME "improv chat," with everything you've ever wanted to mess up in the mini-series in one wild party. Check out Pullo's ad to the left!
Other Rome activities include a possible Rome banquet and a quiz or two. Since Rome was the founding city for AncientSites, there's a lot of history to cover! Keep an eye on the Roman Festivals thread for more details!

Our own Kallistos Alexandros and Xtreemli Curius have come up with a wonderful idea - an exhibition called Art of AncientWorlds X. Hosted at Xtreemli's Villa of Ummidia Quadratilla on Mons Aventinus (in the art salon), it will show the "ten most favorite graphics produced on site by AW artists" over the past ten years. Grab your wine and go browse!
As for other worlds, they're working on it, so check out the following links for info a little closer to July 20th:
The AW Store
Official Decennalia logo, by Asenath Amenhotep
Asenath Amenhotep and Kallistos Alexandros, among others, have been busy on the Decennalia Graphics team, and Ase's lovely graphic of the Dec was chosen as the "official" logo for the festival. Kallistos then added AWAS ("Woz"), the mascot mouse with whom everyone fell in love at first sight. Julilla Sempronius is working on getting these graphic designs to the AW store, and we hope soon to have T-shirts, mouse pads, and other goodies if you want to celebrate ten years at AW in a more concrete way. Stay tuned for the specifics, and special thanks to Kallistos, Ase, and the Graphics Team for their hard work!
