The Decennalia, July 20-22, 2007
It's summertime, so we want the festivities to be sweet and laid-back, but there are several places to come celebrate ten years among new and old ancient timers. Follow the links below, bring your old graphics and shared memories, and help us set off some (relaxed) fireworks!
Site-wide partying has been set up on two major threads under "AncientWorlds Celebrations". Each has a slightly different purpose! For announcements and links, fun-loving comments and general partying, use the main Decennalia thread. If you want to leave a permanent memorial to celebrate the anniversary, try its sister thread, Decennalia: Memory Lane. This latter is our "time capsule" thread, providing a member-built scrapbook of posts, both for this ten-year celebration, but in the future. That means, if you're graphically or esthetically gifted, here is where you can place a permanent part of a "time capsule" to preserve AS/AW memories. Want to make a montage of images? Want to write a story? Want to share something special with future AW members? We'll link Memory Lane in the future on the AW home page, so it will be a permanent addition to our history. So put here what you want to contribute as a permanent memory of AS/AW, and hopefully we can look back at it in years to come. Special additions may even win a cash honorarium for talent!

The AncientWorlds Mascot - Woz!
|
A competition was held recently to
Name the Mascot Mouse, the wonderful AW mascot designed by Kallistos Alexandros, head of the Decennalia Graphics Team. After quite a few creative ideas, the winning entry goes to Jacques Elliott Cruithni, who added AS to AW and came up with Mighty AWAS (or "Woz" for short!). Compliments also to Marcus Antonius Caesar's MOJAX ("Mouse" plus "Ajax") and Vortigern Aedui's Julius Cheezer! Thanks to everyone for their fun ideas, and WOZ will lead us during the Dec! (Hate to say it, but this guy will make a GREAT mousepad at the AW store). Special thanks to Kallistos for the design!
Sustaining Members
We've been building a list of members who've been with us since the early days of AncientSites and are still here a decade later. During the festival, our elves will be tip-toeing through AW, handing out Special "Sustaining Member" plaques. It's a small way of thanking those who've stuck with us through all the ups and downs and still make Ancient Rome, Americas, or Egypt - any of our eight worlds! - part of their lives. A full list of Sustaining Members will be honored on Sunday, July 22, being posted in its own right on the "AncientWorlds Roll of Honor Thread". Another great place to browse for memories is the Roll of Honor thread where our Sustaining Members will be announced. Stay tuned!
