Has it really been ten years?

This phrase can be heard all over AncientWorlds this spring and summer, as we make plans to celebrate ten years as a coherent ancient online community. AncientSites was founded in late spring, 1997, and "launched" in July. With the one-year gap between the close of AncientSites (3/30/01) and the rebirth of AncientWorlds (3/30/02), we?ve still got most of a decade under our belts, which may well mean that AS/AW is the longest-lived virtual community on the Web.

So this Collector's Edition of the ACTA is just a way of letting everyone know about the festivities to come, as we celebrate our ten-year anniversary - the Decennalia - from July 20-22, 2007.

As part of honoring ten years online, many thanks will go to members old and new - you helped build this community, and you should take the credit. Special thanks for this Collectors' Edition design goes to Alerissa Nestor, and all volunteers who keep the ACTA DIURNA as a running index of our history.
