The Lady's favour to be chosen to give to the knights for good luck.

The Lady’s Favour

It is custom that on the day before the Tournament, the competitors parade before the assembled crowds where the Knights ride up to the stands of spectators and ask the ladies for their favours.
The favours in question are regarded as a lucky token.

Each Knight will choose a lady whom he regards as most beautiful to beg a favour from.
If she is flattered by the request, or secretly hopes that the Knight will win the contest she then will grant an item of clothing to the Knight, which he will carry with him throughout the tournament.
The more intimate the garment the luckier it is believed to be and the higher the Knight can consider himself in the Lady’s esteem.

By tradition, a Knight may only beg a favour from one lady on the first day of the tourney, and if refused, must go without.
If he however successfully impresses the lady of his choice and is granted a favour, she on her turn may also do so only once for each of the games (Joust and H2H).
Do keep this in mind!

Of course, this custom always delights the multitudes of peasants and townsfolk whose lewd remarks and whistles often cause the noble Ladies to blush.
It also requires a lot of bravery on the part of the beautiful Ladies who are customarily asked to give their favour to an embarrassing number of Knights as it is usually most difficult to pick the one Knight to grant their favour to, but also to choose how personal the token should be.
The Lady’s maidens therefore usually attend well prepared in advance with several veils or other tokens for the Ladies to choose from.

Each favour will allow the Lady in question to place a small bet on the Knight of her liking.
If said Knight then wins the tournament she will therefore also win a price as well as the reputation of not only being one of the most beautiful Ladies of the kingdom but also a most lucky one.
To be able to grant a token to the Knight of your liking simply choose one from the pictures that follow, copy its location and post it under the tournament thread found here.
You can, if you wish, decorate the favour further before you use it to place your bet on your chosen knight.
Just remember that you can only choose one knight and favour per game (Joust & H2H) and that you must clearly state who your chosen knight is and of course you will need to sign up to be awarded your winnings.
The sign up page you will find here.

And now for a few rules:
Here are a few questions we received that may be of some help to you all.
Please let us know if there is anything else you need help with.

Question 1.
I wish to be a lady to grant a favour to a knight.
If I click on Sign up! next to the title of the thread it'd sign me up but I've become uncertain whether it's me, the lady who has to sign up there or the knight who wishes for a favour.

Answer:

YOU, the lady, needs to sign up for it.
Since YOU are the one betting YOU need to sign up, NOT the person actualy taking part in the tournament.

Question 2.
I'd also like to know where I find the list of knights from which I can choose one to grant my favour to (As I'm not familiar with the local knights yet).

Answer:

There is no official list of participants yet since they are not all signed up and there always is at least 3 or so last minute sign ups, so I can't give you one just yet.
However, if you keep an eye on the sign up pages it will give you a pretty good idea of who actually is going to show up and therefore who you can bet on.

Question 3.

I'd like to know where to post the location of my favour and all the necessary info if I'd like to grant my favour to a knight participating in the H2H and Joust.

Answer:

You post your favour along with the name of the knight that you are giving the favour to IN THE THREAD where they H2H and Joust contests are taking place.
This is to be done just before the contest between the knight of your pleasure and his opponent starts and I will make a post announcing this as soon as I have all the competitors ready.
I suggest you keep an eye on the threads where the contest take place because any information you need will be posted there before the fights.
I hope this was of help.

Now, feel free to choose your favour and grant it to the knight of your pleasure.
