A MOONLIT PROMISE
Who ARE you my winged friend?
You are not the mortal you doth pretend
Before my eyes you have become a creature of myth such as I
Will you keep this winged form?
Will you flee before the dawn?
Tell me beloved keeper of my heart
Who is this being you remember you are?
I picture you now, flying across the sun
I know now, like me you shall not become
I know your heart yearns the sun's warmest shine
As did I once, in a place lost in time
I remember the colour of the sun on the sea
Lost to me now, as I would not have you be to me
You gave me your gift that broke my heart
As I knew you would from the start
I never thought that I would see
Such a sight as you to befuddle me
In Millennia past I have seen more than you could understand
Yet you stand before me, winged on the sand
I shall remember this gift you gave to me in love
I shall remember the colours of your wings
Yet the eternal song, my heart still sings
As we soar across the lands I crush you close to my heart
Here in the skies I weep lest we must part
With heartfelt care you smooth the red tears from my face
We give ourselves once more to a tender embrace
I release you now so your wings may take flight
To travel beside me in the height of this plight
To this night-drenched forest I bring us now
To a mindnight land where tiger does prowl
The moonlit river catches the refelection of your face
Do you feel the beauty of this ever-waking place?
Fear not the predators of this realm
Upon your noble brow I would place an eternal helm
Will you forever refuse my darkest gift?
Even though my heart it will lift
So many others I've seen grow old and die
I would not have you hear my unearthly cry
Come lay with me now by the banks of this river
Lay warm in my arms and watch the stars in the sky
Tell me your thoughts, and i'll tell you mine by and by
An eternity without you by my side
Would be torture untold, my tears flow, can you stem this tide?
A gentle kiss, you bestow upon me
Your face shines in the night, blessed with serenity
Strong do I yearn for the graze of your teeth on my tongue

To feel your fingers caress my marble form
To bask in your eyes and laughter so warm
Again you forbid, my darkest of gifts
My emotions are churned, my soul grows weak

My maker was cruel and left me a wanderer of time

Though sadly I know my gods have foresaken me
Come to me now, for one night of passion and love
And free I will set you, on your wings my snow-white dove
