Golden Greece: Hellas Goldfest 2006
It's that time of AW year again, when we celebrate
Goldfest, the traditional site-wide fall festival. Here in Hellas volunteers and scribes have been working behind the scenes to develop a number of activities for you all to enjoy. Browse through the events and join us on
Monday October 23, for our
Golden Greece celebration. We've got games and contests and flying horses and banners and explosions... No expenses spared!

Kallistos Alexandros, for organizing the MBG Potluck Buffet and the Gold of Hellas exhibition.
List of Events
The Golden Hunt [Contest/Game] - Take a wild trip around Hellas hunting for gods, goddesses, monsters and puzzle pieces. You'll need to find them all to win this Golden Hunt! When you meet the gods and monsters, if you are lucky they will give you clues to help you on the next stage of your journey. But watch out! They are known for being changeable, and the "clues" might lead you astray.
Do you have the stamina to find all the pieces? If you do and you're quick about it, you could take home a Maximum patronage!

The Golden Artifact Search [Game] - What do you get when you take a modern day photo with lots of small details, and overlay 10 ancient golden artifacts, and then lower their transparencies? You get one very difficult image search! Relax! This game is interactive, and you'll have the ability to zoom in and out and pan all around the photo. But will that do you any good? We'll just have to see, huh...
The Gold of Hellas [Historical] - The Museion on Delos presents an exhibition of the gold and jewels of the ancient Hellenic world. Keep an eye on our main Goldfest thread for more information.

The MBG Potluck Buffet [Social] - The Macedonian Bar And Grill is hosting a pot luck buffet during Goldest. All AW members are invited to post a graphic of a favorite food dish which will be displayed with the contributor's name on a special buffet table graphic set up for the event. Graphics are being accepted now and the display's progress will be available as it is built.

Jason's Jumble [Game] - Ever worked on a Word Jumble, or sometimes called a Word Scramble, in your local newspaper? Well, this is hardly your typical Jumble. Everything about this Jumble was taken from the story of Jason, and his quest for the Golden Fleece. Most of the words used aren't your ordinary words found in the dictionary either, but links are given if you find you need a little help.
For ease of play, this game has been made interactive and Flash Player 8 will be required to play.
The Golden Fleece Challenge [Quiz/Game] - You are a young Greek hero, and rightful heir to a kingdom in Thessaly. Your uncle, who has usurped the throne, says he's willing to yield it, but only if you can retrieve the Golden Fleece - a ram's fleece of gold that's under the care of a sleepless dragon. He knows it's an impossible task, and that you'll never return alive. Or so he thinks...

The VIP Pegasus Ride [Contest] - As our vessel of transportation, Hellas has chosen to use Pegasus to transport everyone to The Orient. Most of you will have to ride in the back in a beautiful wooden cart, overlayed in gold with an image of the Argo being built. Sound like a wonderful ride? Most would think so, but one lucky winner will be riding first class, or more accurately, he/she will be "driving" first class. That's right, that lucky winner will have the saddle seat on Pegasus!

The Golden Grab-a-thon [General] - Looking for a special outfit for the festival? Maybe a plaque or a souvenir for your homesite? As a special bonus, we'll be offering graphics created by our local artists in one place for the duration of the festival. Images will be rotated randomly, so point and click while you can! Happy grabbing!
