WINNER: Americas: Apo Mayta Huacac, 7,500 sesterces (1 villa!)
Apo Mayta Huacac brings the Gold home!
The winner of the AncientWorlds Site-Wide Trivia Contest: Americas Team! Meaning that Apo singlehandedly (literally too!) beat the other Worlds! Let's be honest,
Apo kicked ass yesterday! In a fierce fight for the AW Trivia Championship, he took an early lead after 3 questions, and never looked back! Woohoo! We are eternally greatful to you, Apo! Enjoy your well deserved prizes and earnings! Germania's Team came second and Rome was third. Congrats to all teams, you did a good job! And thank you for judges, Corny and Herky, for their sweaty job, and
Alerissa Nestor for the beautiful plaques!
Get yourself a property in the 'hoods!
AncientWorlds neighborhoods were opened for property buying and building on September 4th. After numerous requests, Jot Ariston decided to give even non-Patrons a chance to buy one property each. For Patrons, no such restriction exists, as long as they got enough virtual sestertii to buy properties. The Americas' properties come with three levels, Estate at 7500 sestertii, Hearth at 2500 sestertii and Pit House at 500 sestertii. For Patrons, included in the property page, are features such as ability to write articles, and add discussion boards and threads. Even if you got plenty of 'moola', please do consider carefully, where you want to build your new property: The virtual money you pay is non-refundable, and you cannot 'quit' or get rid of a property once you have bought it.
If you need help in building your property, contact the scribes, or check out
Frontinus' Hood Help Guide

Happy building, Americas [and other worlds'] people! :)
Mesoamericas' districts changed from Valleys to Cities
Mesoamerica's Highlands' districts have been shuffled anew, so as to give Americas' members 'real' cities [instead of valleys] to live in and build their new properties.
Apo Mayta Huacac worked on the new arrangement over the weekend before the hoods opened, did a great job as always, and got it ready for the people to move in. The new Highlands' districts are as follows:
La Venta (Olmecs)
Monte Albán (Zapotecs/Mixtecs)
Tenochtitlan (Aztecs)
Teotihuacán (Teotihuacáns)
Tula (Toltecs)
Tenochtitlan's and Teotihuacán's district pages were done by
Acolnahuacatzin ShieldJaguar and Tula's district page by yours truly. The other two are still undone, but will probably be finished before GoldFest. Feel free to explore all the districts, visit the people already living in them and if you feel like it, just move in! :)
Also, we are looking for district leaders, aka Chieftains, to take care of the district page and it's activities. If you think you'd be an asset to the district and active enough to take care of it, apply to any of the Americas' scribes, the Americas' demi,
Bryce Yupanqui or post so at the
Americas Neighborhood Project-thread. Remember, that you have to live in, ie. to have a property in the district of which Chief you'd like to be.
GoldFest 2006 is approaching!
Our date will be Friday, October 27. We are concentrating on North America this time, and the
theme is "Northern Spirit". Americas' scribes and other active members held a chat on September 2, 2006 from 10:00 to 12:20 AW-time (EST), and discussed the hoods project and the oncoming GoldFest. Brainstorming on the GF events resulted on the following ideas (person in charge of event):
1) Ice Fishing: "Hook a Moose" (
Topiltzin Tupac)
2) Buffalo Bungee jumping @ Grand Canyon (
Ixchel Roca)
3) Quizzes: "Indian Symbols" & "Northern Spirits" (Topiltzin Tupac &
Mangas Cochise)
4) Dreamcatchers & Spirit Bags (
Apo Mayta Huacac &
Ixchel Roca)
5) Igloo building a'la "Post a Brick" (
Zama
Roca &
Chaac Tupac)
6) Transportation to Celtia via hallucinogenics (all?)
PR-persons and helpers (banging the drum about the events):
Chaac Tupac and
Ishtar YellowStar.
The Northern Spirit logo design:

In case you have [more] ideas about Americas GoldFest, or want to help in some of the events, post at the
Goldfest 2006: the Americas-thread, or contact the person(s) in charge of the event.
