Out and about in Egypt

Aknehatate's Watering Hole has swept out the centuries of built up sand & dung beetle shells and redecorated. Not all of Egypt's population are Nile dwellers, if you have just travelled from your remote desert Oasis to see friends, this is the place to do it. Just beware a few of the vinegared wines!

The Egyptian Trivia Thread has long been AW's most active spot for trivia freaks and if anything it's even more so now. Not that we rely on Roman intervention (I assure you we don't!) but it's seen quite alot of cross-world interaction lately. Even if you don't have the answers it's a fun thread to watch. Some recent Trivia debates:
* Oil lamp additives?
* The supposedly easy Cleopatra question
* An Informant on the source of the nile?

Colossus of Ramses II

Ramses' Great Move
The 83 ton colossal statue of Ramses II has stood watch over Ramses Square in Cairo for over fifty years, but environmental hazards that occur in a busy and congested area were causing the ancient statue to deteriorate; so it was decided that he should be moved to a more tranquil and healthy environment about one mile from the Giza Pyramids, and near the future site of the Grand Museum of Egypt. And just as in life, Ramses commanded much pomp and circumstance as he made the ten hour journey to his new home, throngs of people crowded to see the Pharaoh who was moved standing upright atop two flatbed trucks and escorted across the Nile by 1,500 armed soldiers. Once Ramses gets settled and waits for his new home to be built, he will undergo a much needed restoration. Who wouldn't need one after 3,200 years?

Neighborhoods

Ankh

This summer quite a few changes have been made in Egyptian neighborhoods. For one thing you can now move in and buy that iwyt you've always hankered for! That's not all though. The Egyptian world has decided to cross link groups with 'hoods wherever appropriate. An obvious example can be seen in the pet-friendly Per Bastet, where the group Nine Lives has been added as the 'hoods "official sponser" (see the group logo in the sponser box to the left). For more changes, updates and a place to make suggestions, stop by our Egyptian Neighborhood thread.
