Temple to Ares Uncovered in Metropolis
While rare on the Anatolian peninsula, the second temple to Ares, the god of war in ancient Hellas, has been discovered in the small, ancient city of Metropolis. Since it is so unusual that such a small city has Ares for patronizing god, it is thought that he was thought of as a protector of the city instead of as a leader of its citizens to war.
