Germanic News and Notes

More new Germanic Surnames

Thanks to the grand efforts of Eirikr Knudsson and Aelfwine Scylding, we now have several new Germanic surnames to choose from. Not only did they do a great deal of research, but each name also has a written explanation to help newcomers (and old ones as well!) to choose the one that fits. Thank you both for your work!
In alphabetical order the new names are:

2006 Thousand Years Faire: A Success!

beer.gif
After nearly collapsing in upon itself and with a timely save by a host of concerned citizens led by Dagmar Sigurdsson, the 2006 Thousand Years Faire ended as a festival of merriment and ingenuity the likes of which will stay in our memories for a long time! It was a very close shave, however, and there were so many people who stepped in at the last minute or who stuck to their guns even when faced with a possible cancellation, that it is nearly impossible to thank everyone who helped. But all this reporter can say is "Danke" to every single person out there who came out to participate and to create amazingly creative and exciting events which pulled us all together with typical Ancient Worlds camaraderie and fun. As one member put it: "Yes, in the end, there was a lot of people involved. Well, that was the goal for the whole thing in the first place, in a sense".

Everything from quizzes, to tours, to a fabulously baudy limerick tale, the events were both educational and entertaining. And as always, there was plenty of cyber-drinking and general silliness as well.

AVB Call for articles

A HUGE thank you again to Eirikr Knudsson who has been the Voice of Germania for the Anima Vagula Blandula these past few issues. Though it is on hiatus for the summer, he is still looking for articles, stories, and news which he can report to the masses. If you are interested in writing any of the above, please contact Eirikr for further information.
