Karnak, pg 17
![]() At last, on the south side of the Temple, we come to the sacred lake. Amun's lake covers an area of 120 by 77 meters (394 x 253 ft) and is surrounded by numerous buildings: storerooms, priests dwellings, even an aviary for aquatic birds, some from far outside Kemet's borders. In these waters, the priests purify themselves every morning before performing the sacred rites. ![]() Here at the lake is where our tour ends. You are welcome to remain and explore the wonders of Karnak for yourself. I would suggest you keep to the path we've taken on this tour, but should you become lost, stop any of the priests, priestesses, temple workers or police — someone will be able to direct you back to the quay. For those who wish to leave now, if you will follow me, the barge will be returning to Waset in ten minutes. If you do wish to remain and enjoy further views of Karnak, you may wish to join the World Heritage Tours, a group that is dedicated to documenting in 360 degree images all places registered as a World Heritage site. Karnak is such a place. WHT's short tour is the Next stop. |
